Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association

We are collaborating on the merger between the Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter of the National Spinal Cord Injury Association www.spinalcordwi.org and Madison's SCI group.

We are planning to meet Sunday, June 7, at 1:30 p.m. at Johnson Creek area - Hi Way Harry's.

Action Items- from our meeting

· We need to read our goals and ensure we agree…

The mission of the NSCIA-SWC is to assist people who have some degree of paralysis through injury or disease with a goal of returning them to a life of dignity, self-confidence and independence in a community that is all inclusive.

· Madison members can read bylaws and attend July 7th NSCIA-SCW conference call at 6 p.m. (more details will be sent out later.)

We discussed Pros/Cons
· Divvying up the work

o We can collaborate on grant writing

o We can collaborate and update people on stem cell research

o Look at having a mini “abilities expo” in the Madison-Milwaukee area in the future


Joint goals -

Partner up for mentoring - peer mentoring … discussed semi-formal, formal, informal …
establishing a peer advising…

- Work with UW campuses in both Madison and Milwaukee
- UW Hosp, Meriter, St Mary’s, Foerdert, ???
